Fine wine begins with quality grapes
York Hill Vineyard is a part of the Columbia Gorge AVA. It’s owned by Brenda and Tom McGowan and located in the Columbia River Gorge. We strive to provide the highest quality grapes and we are proud to be a partner with Brooks Wines located in Amity, Oregon.
The vineyard was planted in 2008 with Pinot Noir 667 clones and cloned to Rootstocks 101-14 and 3309. These rootstocks are the most common rootstocks planted in Oregon primarily because they:
- Have shorter ripening and hardening off cycle
- Have low vigor and high fruit set
- Are good at nutrient uptakes, especially Potassium which can be low in volcanic soils
- Are the most drought tolerant (3309)
